The Logistics and Effects of MLB Resuming Play

This is quite the time to start a baseball blog, so I thought it would be really interesting to talk about the logistics and effects of MLB resuming play. First of all, no matter what happens regarding the league, there are going to be some changes. The biggest change is the proposed expansion of the play-offs to 14 teams and the 80 game format that can be expected to begin in July. What does this mean for the average fan? It means that sadly, there will be less regular season baseball, but there will also be more post-season baseball. This also means that fringe contenders on the edges of playoff berths will get their best chance this year. A relevant example of this is the Washington Nationals, who won the World Series last year after barely sneaking into a playoff spot. The Nats lost some core players after their World series run last year and are helped by the prospect of a playoff expansion.

Lastly, I want to make a final comment on the Houston Astros and how I think their future will play out. I don’t think that anyone is happy with the Astros right now, but I will try my best to take an unbiased perspective. The Astros are a good team. Even though they did cheat to win their first ring back in 2017, they have spent years farming up the best amateur talent the world has to offer. Even though I expect major regression in their offense and lineup, I think that they unfortunately have a descent shot at the playoffs this year.
